Crossroads started with a group of young adults who had a heart and passion to reach other young adults; a group that has been largely neglected by many churches.  It is a generation of people that has lost interest in the “traditional church” concept and has many misconceptions and preset notions of what Christians and church mean.  Crossroads set out to build a community of young adults that could meet together and create an environment that would be relevant to the needs and interests of this age group.  As the effort unfolded, Crossroads worked closely together with a young adult Bible Study group called Grace in Motion which focused on creating small groups for young adults. 

 As time progressed, Crossroads began to focus more on events, activities and ideas that could be used for outreach towards young adults.  It then relied on other groups like Grace in Motion to create the community of young adults via small groups.  Crossroads began to add higher profile events to its resume as the group continued to try to think out of the box and come up with ideas that would be new, challenging, and appealing to young adults.  The hope was that by creating these outreach opportunities, Crossroads could create an avenue to bring young adults who were not typical church-goers into some church-like settings.  Events that Crossroads have undertaken ranged from social activities like bowling, to parties with costumes, pumpkin carving and gingerbread houses, to larger events like Christmas parties and mystery dinners. We have also tackled larger-scaled events like concerts, comedians, and other entertainment shows.  The list of artists has continued to grow, starting with Rich Praytor and expanding to include Shane & Shane, Aaron Shust, Bethany Dillon, One Time Blind, David Dean, John Branyan, Joy Williams, Zoro the Drummer, Steven Curtis Chapman, Sanctus Real, Kutless, BJ Harris, Natalie Grant, Hillsong London, Fee, Leeland, Brandon Heath and Francesca Battistelli.

 As the mission of the group became more focused on outreach to the young adult community in Central New York, the Crossroads team began to be defined as the team responsible for coming up with these “outreach opportunity” activities and carrying them out.  The Friday Night Young Adults Night has become the community where young adults are able to meet together for food, small groups, and connections.

 The Crossroads team continues to be excited about the direction God is leading us in.  We hope that more opportunities will exist to challenge ourselves and this community in creating environments where the lost of any age (specifically young adults in our case) can come to know Him.
